Ron Dzwonkowski joined the Piast board in 2012 after retiring from the Detroit Free Press, where he worked for 29 years as a reporter, editor, columnist and, for 10 1/2 years, editor of the editorial page. In that capacity, he was responsible for the newspaper's institutional opinions on the issues of the day and endorsements for political office.

Ron is a member of the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame and a recipient of the Career Achievement Award from the Detroit chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. His editorials and columns were part of the newspaper's Pulitzer Prize-winning coverage of disgraced former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. Ron also received a National Headliner Award for his coverage of the 1987 crash of Flight 255 at Detroit Metro Airport. His work is featured in several journalism textbooks.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Ron is a graduate of Wayne State University in Detroit. He lives in Novi with his wife Michelle.The couple has two adult daughters.
